Medical students gaining first-hand experience in the Prairie Mountain Health Region

Starting today (Mon), students from the University of Manitoba’s College of Medicine will be participating in Rural Week within the Prairie Mountain Health region.

Medical students will get an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of how rural and northern Manitoba medical practices function.

27 students have been assigned to nine communities which includes Dauphin, Hamiota, Minnedosa, Russell, Ste. Rose and Swan River.

Rural Week first started as an optional experience in 2003, and was approved as a mandatory component the following year.
