A busy August for the Tourism Yorkton Information Centre

The Tourism Yorkton Information Centre welcomed 323 visitors from parts of Canada, the U.S. and abroad during the month of August.

Some visitors came from New Zealand, Germany, Australia, Mexico, and London, England. States included Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, Texas, South Carolina, and California.

“Those are some of the states that we don’t usually get the traffic from,” said Tourism Yorkton Executive Director Randy Goulden.

Visitors around Canada include Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, B.C., New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Northwest Territories and Yukon.

“We always try to have an information counselor that’s bilingual so we can address them in their language too, so we make it as easy and pleasant for them to enjoy their stop here at the centre,” Goulden said of visitors from Quebec, who she said sometimes come in groups of 3 or 4 people.

Goulden also says these visitors have praised the Yorkton area for its beauty.

“They’re very impressed with the crops, the colours, and of course with the rain we’ve been getting, everything is so very green and for many places that (the visitors) come from, they usually don’t see that.” she said.

Some of the comments from visitors include a couple from Calgary  who said “This area is beautiful, and it is about time we came to see it.”  K&B Caterer from Manitoba said “Thank you to the city for maintaining such a beautiful spot for travellers.” A visitor from Nova Scotia simply said “Beautiful farmland!”
