Ebb and Flow First Nation man dies in ATV rollover

A 53-year-old Ebb and Flow First Nation man is dead, following a tragic incident on the reserve over the weekend.

Ste Rose RCMP say it occurred Saturday morning, off North Central Road.

At the scene, police, firefighters and EMS personnel located an all-terrain vehicle on its side in a creek, in about three feet of water.

Mounties say it appears the driver encountered a steep slope sometime overnight, causing the ATV to roll over, and pin the driver.

The victim, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, died at the scene.

A 19-year-old female from Killaly has died following an ATV accident this weekend in Western Manitoba.

Early Sunday morning, Russell RCMP received a report of an off-road vehicle crash in the Kilman Cottage area within the RM of Riding Mountain West.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a side-by-side ATV with three occupants had lost control and rolled over.

The 19-year-old driver from Langenburg, who was uninjured, was arrested for impaired driving causing death.

He was subsequently released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court on October 23 in Russell.

Another passenger, a 19-year-old male from Churchbridge, also escaped without injury.

Mounties are continuing their investigation.
