Seriously, who hasn’t seen at least one Nicolas Cage movie in their lifetime? The man has been in everything from big action movies like National Treasure, to romantic comedies like It Could Happen To You (my favourite Nic Cage movie), to even quirky indie films like Raising Arizona. But this movie is so different because Nicolas Cage is literally playing himself! How can you not be intrigued by that?
In The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Cage’s character is a fictionalized version of himself who is struggling with debt and agrees to attend a fan’s birthday party for a $1 million. The plot alone doesn’t sound that wild, but the movie itself becomes unhinged in the best way possible.
From over-the-top action sequences to meta jokes about his career, this movie is definitely a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. There is literally a scene where he makes out with himself, and it’s hilarious! And there are some big names in this movie as well. Of course, Nic Cage, but there’s also Neil Patrick Harris, Pedro Pascal, Tiffany Haddish, and even Demi Moore! And I totally get the hype about Pedro Pascal now. Not only is that man funny, he is gorgeous as well!
So if you’re in the mood for a fun and entertaining movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously, check out The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
