Husky Pleads Guilty In A 2016 Oil Spill

Calgary based Husky Energy has pleaded guilty to 3 charges after a pipeline spill 3 years ago into the North Saskatchewan river, while 7 other charges were withdrawn. 225 thousand litres of oil and a diluting agent leaked from a 16 inch pipeline near Maidstone in July 2016. 40% of it got into the river, affecting drinking water in several communities, including Prince Albert. In 2018, In response to the spill, Husky has spent about $144 million.
