HIV Outbreak Sparked Near North Battleford

An HIV outbreak has been declared for North Battleford and it is primarily among people who inject drugs and share needles and other injection drug-use equipment.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority also says it can be spread from person to person through unprotected sexual activity.
A syphilis outbreak has been declared for the areas of the former health region, particularly the Battlefords and Lloydminster areas.
The sexually transmitted infection is spread from person to person through direct contact with a syphilis sore.
