An Earthquake Off The Coast Of Indonesia

A strong earthquake struck in Indonesia’s Banda Sea today, but authorities said there was no tsunami threat. The magnitude 7.3 quake was centred 208 kilometres below the earth’s surface, and was felt as far away as Darwin, Australia, where the central business district was evacuated. It was felt in parts of Indonesia and in East Timor’s capital, but there were no reports of damage. No tsunami warning was issued.
