A Waywayseecappo First Nation woman who admitted to Manslaughter in the death of her two-year-old son, has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

40-year-old Jessica Brandon was in Brandon Court of Queen’s Bench on Thursday (4th), where the sentence, which included a DNA order, and lifetime weapons prohibition, was handed down.

Back in January of 2015, Mounties were called to investigate the boy’s death at a home on the reserve.

After over a year-long investigation, the victim’s mother was arrested in April of 2016.
