NDP Raising Concerns Over First Quarter Report from Sask Party

The Saskatchewan government announced today the provincial budget is on track to balance after the 1st quarter, but the official opposition think its on the wrong track.

While NDP finance critic Trent Wotherspoon talked about how areas such as education have been affected by the government’s “mismanaged spending”, he’s worried about the workers and companies in the potash sector.

He says the government’s decision to hike potash royalties without any consultation hurts such an important industry in the province.

Earlier this year, Sask NDP leader Ryan Meili stated his government would conduct a review of the royalty system if elected in the 2020 provincial election.
