Sentencing has been handed down to a Fishing Lake First Nation man, who admitted to Driving While Disqualified.
Court heard that last October, 57-year-old Darwyn Desjarlais was pulled over in Yorkton, while under a 5-year driving ban.
He says he took over driving his mother’s vehicle, because she was shaky and dizzy from a diabetic episode.
However, Desjarlais has 21 previous driving convictions, including 8 for Impaired Driving and 10 for Driving While Disqualified.
In Yorkton Provincial Court this (Fri) morning, Desjarlais received a 20-month conditional sentence, to be served in the community, and a 3-year driving prohibition.
