The First Leaders Election Debate Was Missing A Leader

The first leaders debate of the 2019 federal election campaign was held in Toronto last night, but not all the party leaders were there. The Conservative’s Andrew Scheer, Jagmeet Singh of the NDP and Green Party leader Elizabeth May took part in it, but not Liberal leader Justin Trudeau. He gave the event a pass, preferring to spend his time at a rally in Edmonton, saying there’ll be lots of opportunity to face down his opponents.
