Manitoba’s police watchdog is conducting an investigation into the death of a 54-year-old man following his arrest by RCMP in The Pas.

The Independent Investigation Unit was notified of the incident on Sunday (Oct. 6).

On Saturday (Oct. 5) Mounties arrested a man after responding to an intoxicated person call and put the man in a cell around 7 p.m.

When officers checked on the individual early the next morning, they found him unresponsive and was later pronounced dead.
