A youth sentence review was held today (Thu) for one of two people, who admitted to a 2016 murder in Yorkton.
A 20-year-old Yorkton man, who can’t be named because he was 17 at the time of the offence, is applying to have his sentence changed from closed custody to open custody, so he can attend a post-secondary institution in Regina, starting in January.
The judge reserved his decision until November 29th.
In the late night hours of September 12th, 2016, two boys attacked 67-year-old Lawrence Skoretz at Jaycee Beach, stomping his head and chest area, breaking some of his ribs, and rupturing his spleen.
Skoretz tried to crawl home, but succumbed to his injuries.
