Melville Council Forgives Millionaires Baseball Club Debt

An almost 6-thousand dollar financial relief was decided by Melville City Council to be given to the the Melville Millionaires baseball team. The Western Canadian Baseball League club who announced they will be taking a one-year leave of absence in 2020 , has a long-standing outstanding account for catering and hall rental fees from their Field of Dreams banquet held in May of 2018. Melville mayor Walter Streelasky says with relieving some of the team’s debt load they hope they can continue to fundraise and keep the Mils playing in Melville in the future. Council decided it will write off the amount owing by funding it through their general revenue and it would be filed as bad debt expense.
