Not long after Carlyle RCMP spoke about a telephone scam in their area, the Indian Head RCMP are doing the same in their jurisdiction.
The detachment has received numerous reports from local residents about receiving calls from “legal departments” of various government departments.
The call is a recorded message threatening arrest and legal action if immediate action is not taken by the victim.
They then ask to press 1 and speak to an “officer” which the RCMP say is not real.
Mounties are urging everyone to not take action on these calls, or give personal information over the phone.
They also encourage people to call the detachment at 306-695-5200 should they have questions or have provided personal information to these callers.
