CP Rail Continues to Deal with Train Derailment Between Guernsey and Plunket

As of mid-afternoon (Mon), there was still an area of the Canadian Pacific derailment west of Guernsey that was still burning. CP Rail says the train was hauling crude.
There were no injuries and no evacuations have been ordered, however Highway 16 remains closed in both directions between Guernsey and Plunket.
There is a detour south of Plunket on Highway 365 toward Watrous and then north along Highway 668 to Guernsey.
The crude has had no impact to waterways and CP says in a news release that it is in close contact with regulators and local officials and will keep them informed of the situation.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
CP says the area will be cleaned up and restored. There is no word on how much crude was spilled or how many cars derailed.
