B.C. Resident Sentenced to Jail Time and Probation, Co-Accused has Charges Stayed

Two B-C residents have had court appearances, following their arrest in Yorkton on drug and weapon charges.
In Yorkton today (Mon), 24-year-old Jason Ford pled guilty to three offences, including Assault With a Weapon, and was sentenced to 75 days in jail, to be followed by one year of probation.
The charges against 19-year-old Emma Loverin were stayed by the Crown.
The pair were apprehended in May of last year, after police received a report of Ford swinging a knife at a man at Walmart.
When Mounties searched the couple’s hotel room and vehicle, they seized 107 grams of cocaine, 30 grams of marijuana, a rifle, and some ammunition.
However, a judge determined last month, that the search of the hotel room and vehicle violated Ford’s Charter rights.
