The Co-Op Dispute Heads To Court

The dispute at the Regina Co-Op refinery which has seen 700 workers off the job since December 5th appears headed to court in a battle of injunctions. A Co-Op lawyer says seeking a court injunction was the final option after a lack of action by city police towards striking workers picketing the site. A lawyer for the union says the court should dismiss the Co-op refinery’s application because picket lines are not blocking emergency equipment from getting access to the site. But the refinery counters the union has been putting up blockades and intimidating replacement workers, forcing it to use helicopters to transport goods and staff across picket lines.
