Prime minister Trudeau will meet with Manitoba premier Brian Pallister on the sidelines of the federal liberal cabinet retreat in Winnipeg. In the October election, the liberals lost 3 of 7 seats in Manitoba, and were shut out on Saskatchewan and Alberta, so this is seen as an attempt to build bridges with the region. Pallister has signaled his willingness to act as something of a bridge between the federal government and the other two, openly hostile Prairie premiers, Alberta’s Jason Kenney and Saskatchewan’s Scott Moe.
