Day parole has been granted to a former Yorkton RCMP officer and sports coach, who was convicted of sexually abusing young boys in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

64-year-old Alan Davidson was arrested in 2014, for abusing seven boys in Yorkton and in B.C., during the late 1970’s and early 1990’s, and following his conviction, received a six year jail sentence.

The Correctional Service of Canada has recommended that Davidson, who is eligible for full parole in April, be released to a facility on Vancouver Island.

It’s a move the Parole Board says would help to protect the public, while allowing Davidson to re-integrate into society.
