Trial Ordered for Man who Allegedly Stabbed Waywayseecappo First Nation Policeman

A man arrested in connection with the stabbing of a police officer on the Waywayseecappo First Nation, has appeared in court again.
21-year-old Matthew Benn was in Brandon yesterday (Thu) for his Preliminary Inquiry, where he was committed to stand trial on a charge of Attempted Murder.
The Manitoba First Nations Police officer was called to a business last May on a report of a disturbance, and when he attempted to arrest a male, another male stabbed the officer multiple times.
The officer then drew his firearm, and shot the second male.
The 29-year-old police officer was treated in hospital for serious injuries, but was released soon after.
