What a great weekend at the Yorkton Novice Tournament. Friday we started out with 16 teams visiting from all over Saskatchewan and Manitoba. We were treated to some excellent hockey all weekend long. A big hats off to the organizing committee of the tournament as I heard so many compliments of how well it was run and how much fun the kids were having. You go into a tournament hoping for the best but need to play your best to win in a 16 team tournament. My sons team did just that as they went undefeated and won the A-Side Championship. We faced teams from Melville, Esterhazy, Wadena, & Humboldt. The toughest test came Sunday in the A Final against a very good Humboldt Broncos team. We were out shot 45-10 but still come away with the win 6-5 in overtime. I was so proud, my son is the goalie and maybe had one of his best games yet. Talk about the right time to have a great game. It’s hard to believe we are almost wrapping up another season of hockey, a couple more league games then playoffs and hopefully we can ride this momentum. Thank you to everyone who came out and cheered hard for these great kids this past weekend.
