Jail For Yorkton Man With Troubled Past

A 37-year-old Yorkton man has been sentenced to jail time for violating his peace bond.
In Yorkton Provincial Court this (Thu) morning, Adam Sangwais received one year behind bars, but because he’s been in custody since August, he only has 111 days left to serve.
In April of 2016, he pleaded guilty to Aggravated Assault and was given prison time, after he stabbed another man three times in the abdomen during an argument in Regina.
In 2001, Sangwais was convicted of Manslaughter, and was sentenced to 7 years behind bars, for the December 2000 shooting death of Donald Montgomery on the Sakimay First Nation.
