The city of Yorkton is getting set to host the 2020 Canadian Student Leadership Conference.
“This has been honestly a full time job aside from running the school,” said Yorkton Regional High School principal Mike Haczkewicz when talking about the preparation that has gone in to host the event. “It’s a huge undertaking for sure.”
Four new major sponsors were announced for the conference.
Sponsors include Federated Co-Op, Richardson Oilseed, the Elias Giannoulis Memorial Hockey Tournament, and the Yorkton Exhibition Association, each contributing over 10-thousand dollars.
Spokesperson for Richardson Oilseed Al Wilhelm says the decison to sponsor this event was easy.
“They want to invest back into communities where their employees live and their customers live, and that’s what they’re doing,” Wilhelm said. “This is a perfect example because you look across Canada what better event can you do this?”
