TSB Investigators Release Preliminary Report on Train Derailment near Guernsey

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada released a preliminary report on last week’s train derailment near Guernsey.
They have not found any mechanical defects that could be a factor in the incident, adding the train was “handled in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.”
The report also found 19 of the 31 cars that left the tracks caught fire.
The derailment also resulted in the closure of Highway 16 and the evacuation of 85 Guernsey residents to Lanigan.
This is the second derailment to occur in that area, with the last one happening in December.
