A criminal record check will now be required for anyone 18 and up wanting to change their name in Saskatchewan. The provincial government says a person could have their request to change their name denied if they are connected to offences that require registration to the National Sex Offender Registry. Justice minister Don Morgan says it’s an extra step that is necessary to protect children even if they are ordered to be placed on a sex offender registry.
