Yorkton Fire Department Reveals Most Plausible Cause of Fire at Ram Industries

The Yorkton Fire Department’s investigation into last Thursday’s (Feb. 13) fire at Ram Industries on York Road has concluded.
Fire Chief Trevor Morrissey says the most plausible cause was, what he described as, electrical static shock that ignited a cleaning solution in the production facility.
“And that spread to, and through, the main storage, which is what caused the majority of the damage,” Morrissey added.
It was initially reported no one was injured, however, Morrissey says there were minor injuries.
“There was heat injuries caused at the origin of the fire, but everybody was treated and released.” he said.
When asked about the cost in damages, Morrissey wasn’t sure.
“The company (Ram Industries) is working very hard right now with the insurance company to determine actual loss,” the Fire Chief noted.
Morrissey thanked everyone who helped put the fire out shortly early Thursday morning as well as with the investigation.
