Man Caught in Stolen Vehicle Near Wynyard has Charges Stayed

An Ontario man arrested in connection with an incident in Wynyard involving a stolen vehicle, is off the hook.
Last June, a Mountie tried to pull over the vehicle on Highway 16, but the driver sped into Wynyard.
The suspect reached speeds of over 100 kilometres per hour within the town, so a spike belt had to be used, and the driver and passenger were finally arrested about 6 kilometres west of Wynyard.
In Wynyard Provincial Court this week, the charges against 23-year-old Lonnie Herrington were stayed by the Crown.
His co-accused, 23-year-old John Hipwell, plead guilty to his role in the incident last June, and was sentenced to 75 days in jail, to be followed by a one-year driving ban.
