Ottawa May Extend The Tax Deadline Due To COVID-19

The coronavirus pandemic has meant the federal government may extend the deadline for filing income taxes Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he was considering recalling Parliament to pass emergency economic measures, and hinted that the government could allow an extension of the April 30 tax filing deadline to June 1st. Meantime, Canada and the United States are finalizing a deal to close their shared border to non-essential travel, an extraordinary measure designed to slow the spread of COVID-19. The final deal is expected to allow some commercial traffic to continue to keep critical supply chains intact.
