During his daily address, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Canadians can sign up to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit.
The benefit is for those who have been temporarily laid off or lost their job due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Those eligible will receive up to $2-thousand a month, or $500 a week, for up to 4 months, according to the canada.ca website, where Canadians can sign up, starting tomorrow (Mon).
The first payment by direct deposit will come within 3-5 days while first payment by mail will arrive within 10 days.
The Prime Minister said production of Personal Protective Equipment, such as face masks, is ramping up after the White House earlier this week asked 3-M to cease exports of N-95 face masks to Canada. Trudeau says he will be speaking with U.S. President Donald Trump on the subject in the coming days.
