April 9 COVID-19 Update

**Health officials in Saskatchewan say between 3,000 and 8,300 people could die in the province from COVID-19.
Projections released yesterday say there could be between 153,000 and 408,000 cases of the illness caused by the novel coronavirus.
The province reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 for a total so far of 271, including three deaths.

**Manitoba is postponing the province’s 150th birthday bash until next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
And the province is warning that some limit on public gatherings is likely to be in place well into summer.
Yesterday the government announced four new COVID-19 cases, bringing its total to 221.

**More help is on the way for small business owners across the country, due to COVID-19.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says they’re loosening the regulations surrounding the federal wage subsidy program.
Instead of having to prove their revenues have fallen by 30 percent, business owners must only demonstrate a 15 percent decline in revenue for the month of March to qualify.

**Britain’s prime minister is spending a fourth day in intensive care as he battles COVID-19.
Boris Johnson is said to be recovering steadily, unable to work, but able to sit up now.
Meanwhile, the work of the government continues on its own, as the public is being urged to avoid the lure of a warm, holiday weekend and stay home.
