Charges have been laid against a Waywayseecappo First Nation man in connection to a death on the reserve.

25-year-old Lawrence Shingoose has been remanded into custody on charges of Manslaughter, Criminal Negligence Causing Death with a Firearm, Careless Use of a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Order.

On Saturday (Apr. 11), the Manitoba First Nations Police Service received a report of a shot fired at a Waywayseecappo residence.

Officers located a 15-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound, and was taken to hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
