Five people have been charged in connection with a traffic stop in the R-M of Ellice-Archie.

Russell RCMP made the arrests early Saturday morning, and seized a .22 calibre firearm, 24-hundred unmarked cigarettes, a small amount of marijuana, prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia, and open liquor.

The 32-year-old Birdtail Sioux First Nation man driving the vehicle faces numerous charges, including Driving While Over .08, Driving While Prohibited, and Possession of Unstamped Tobacco.

He and his four passengers have been released from custody to appear in Russell Provincial Court on September 23rd.
