Concerns About Future of Pioneer Village Care Home in Regina Brought up in Sask. Legislature

The NDP is raising concern about the future of Pioneer Village care home in Regina.

Opposition critic Vicki Mowat says the crumbling structure needs immediate repair work.

She says recent construction at Pioneer Village raised false hopes.

Mowat says the most recent work was cutting trees for a parking lot when the building needs immediate repairs.

Health minister Jim Reiter says the building has serious structural issues but the province is committed to looking after those residents.

He says the Saskatchewan Health Authority is evaluating several proposals and an announcement will be made in coming weeks and months.
