Lots of Distracted Driving Tickets Issued During SGI’s Traffic Safety Focus for June

SGI’s traffic safety spotlight for the month of June was on distracted driving.
Spokesperson Tyler McMurchy noted that 700 drivers received tickets for distracted driving.
There was a high number of tickets issued for aggressive driving and speeding with 7,803.
605 drivers were cited for cellphone use, 95 drivers were ticketed for driving without due care or attention, 395 impaired driving offences were recorded, and 533 tickets were issued for improper use of a seatbelt.
McMurchy reminds residents that it is construction season across the province.
McMurchy notes that the fine for speeding at 100 km/h through a construction zone is over 1-thousand dollars.
