Punnichy man charged in Regina stolen vehicle case returns to court

A 45-year-old Punnichy man made another appearance yesterday (THURS), in Regina Provincial Court, on several charges stemming from a weekend incident involving a stolen vehicle.

After police used a spike belt to end the chase early Saturday (6th) morning, on Highway 6, just north of the Queen City, the man and woman inside the vehicle refused to exit, and a two-hour standoff ensued.

When they did exit, the man was showing signs of a drug overdose, and was taken to hospital, where he tried to escape.

Joseph Cyr was remanded in custody, to appear again on Wednesday (16th), while 40-year-old Kelly Twist, of the Gordon First Nation, will make her first appearance on October 26th.
