Back to Work Wage Subsidy Program Expanded to Further Support Manitoba Businesses

The Manitoba government has announced more supports for businesses in the province.

In making the announcement, premier Brain Pallister says the Back to Work in Manitoba Wage Subsidy Program is being expanded to include new companies.

“There are companies starting up right now, and if those companies are looking to add staff and hire people and help them get back to work, we’re looking to help them.” Pallister said.

He also says the program will be extended by 60 days.

“And that’s going to support seasonal businesses that like to add people around the Christmas shopping time, it’s going to help businesses staff up for that holiday season,” he added.

Through the initiative, private-sector and non-profit employers can receive up to $100,000 to subsidize 20 employees hired since July 16.

The Back to Work Manitoba Wage Subsidy application deadline is now Dec. 1, and employers will be required to provide proof of payment of wages by Feb. 1, 2021.
