The Yorkton and District Community Foundation will receive an additional $30-thousand to support local charities responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Foundation will post details regarding applications and eligibility on their website on Monday (Oct. 5) and will start accepting applications the same day until October 30th.
The money comes from the federal government’s $350-million Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF).
In the first round of grants, $75-thousand was distributed in June and July to help six local charities, including SIGN in Yorkton, SIGN Family Resource Centre in Kamsack, Sask. Abilities Council in Yorkton, the Boys and Girls Club of Yorkton and Rail City Industries in Melville.
In a news release, president of the YDCF board Sharon Tropin says there were more applications than what could be supported in the first round.
