The Manitoba Government is looking for feedback from R.M.s in the southwest regarding the rehabilitation of the dams at Rapid City and Rivers
Manitoba Infrastructure is exploring options and will begin consulting with the R.M. of Oakview, the Riverdale Municipality and other stakeholders as part of the design process.
In a news release, Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler says they’re working on it quickly so that area residents “can feel safe and have confidence in their local infrastructure.”
Heavy rains this past summer resulted in high water levels on the Little Saskatchewan River, putting nearby communities and both dams at risk.
There were initial concerns regarding the structural integrity of both dams but further inspection indicated there was no major damage or foundation erosion.
