Guilty plea in connection with January 2020 death on Star Blanket First Nation

A guilty plea has been entered by a 19-year-old Star Blanket First Nation man, charged in connection with a death on the reserve earlier this year.

Shauntay Keewatin had originally been charged with Second Degree Murder, but yesterday (MON), in Fort Qu’Appelle Provincial Court, he pled guilty to Manslaughter, and sentencing was set for November 19th.

Officers from the RCMP and File Hills Police Service responded to reports of an altercation at a home on the reserve, on the evening of January 31st, and found the victim inside.

The name of the victim, a 17-year-old boy who lived in the home, is not being released.
