Municipal bylaw officers in Manitoba have been granted the ability to enforce public health emergency orders.
In a release today, Justice Minister Cliff Cullen comments the decision was made to help address the concerns of non-compliance with health orders in the province.
Bylaw officers can now issue tickets for those who breach the public health orders regarding gatherings and group sizes, physical distancing, and businesses requiring to ensure that customers can properly physically distance.
Earlier this week, the province increased the fines for breach of public health orders, to 1-thousand 296 dollars for individuals, and 5-thousand dollars for corporations.
