Canora RCMP Recover $40-Thousand in Firefighting Equipment

If it wasn’t for the quick action from Canora RCMP members, roughly $40-thousand dollars of firefighting equipment, belonging to the local fire department would have been stolen.

Mounties were out on routine patrol in Canora on Friday when they noticed two individuals acting suspicious near the Canora Fire Hall.

A subsequent investigation resulted in the recovery of 3 brand new breathing apparatuses, formal uniforms, battery charges, and ice augers.

A 21-year-old man and a 35-year-old man, both from Canora, were arrested and charged with Break and Enter and Theft over $5-thousand.

Canora Fire Chief Devon Sawka thanked the RCMP for their swift action.

In a news release, Sawka says “a theft of this nature can be enough to cripple a department” adding the RCMP “not only helped them but the community as a whole.”
