A New Court Date For Abernethy Residents Charged With Assault

One of two Abernethy residents arrested following a January incident, involving the alleged assault of police officers, was back in court yesterday .

Around 3 a.m. on January 19th, RCMP were called to an Abernethy home, to deal with a domestic dispute, and when Mounties tried to arrest the man, both suspects became aggressive, allegedly assaulting the officers.

A taser was used on the woman, to no effect, and the man tried to grab it from the officer, and additional officer were called in, to help with the arrests. .

In February, 25-year-old Brandon Poorman pled “not guilty,” to two counts of Assaulting a Peace Officer, and three other charges.

Poorman’s trial was to have been held yesterday, but it was adjourned to April 22nd, in Fort Qu’Appelle.
