SaskPower is letting the public know of a text and email scam after receiving word of scammers posing as them, demanding funds be sent because of overbilling.

The provincial power company says the messages may contain links leading to websites that may ask for personal or financial information.

SaskPower stated while they do send monthly bill reminders via email, they never conduct financial transactions through text messages, email or social media.

If you’re unsure, contact SaskPower customer service at 1-888-757-6937 to ask about the state of your account.

If you have become a victim of fraud, call your banking institution and your local police department immediately.
