Sask. Water Security Agency Reminds People to Check Ice Thickness Before Travelling Across Them

Use caution on ice surfaces in Saskatchewan.

The advisory has been issued by the Water Security Agency due to the milder than normal weather, which could result in people going through thin spots.

You’re reminded to check ice thickness on waterbodies before walking, snowmobiling or driving across them.

You need at least 10 cm to walk on, and up to 30 to support a heavy vehicle.

The agency says there have been several serious ice-related incidents over the holiday season.
