An overnight fire has destroyed the Western Star Hotel in Redvers.

Mayor Brad Bulbuck says fortunately there was no one inside or around the hotel when it was engulfed in flames.

He also commended the Volunteer Fire Department for containing the fire to the hotel, as a John Deere Dealership was east of it.

He says its hard to lose a building of any kind in a small community.

Video shared on social media shows flames erupting from the 2nd level of the building.

There’s now word yet on the cause of the fire at the hotel, which had 64 rooms.
