Newly Created Skating Path in Moosomin Receiving Positive Feedback

The Town of Moosomin is staying active this winter in a variety of ways.

Chief among them is what’s called “Circle Skate Way” – a 500-yard flooded roadway, located at Bradley Park, that opened before the holiday season in mid-December.

Moosomin’s Director of Parks and Recreation, Mike Schwean says it was created in response to COVID-19 rules at the time when 10 people were allowed on an outdoor ice surface. It has since expanded to 30 people.

“It was a 12-foot road so it afforded us the opportunity to have people pass on the track and social distance,” he added.

He says another reason it was created was addressing the shortage of activities in the community caused by COVID-19.

He says COVID-19 related signage is posted in the change rooms as a reminder to follow the guidelines.

Since it opened it has been a hit with locals.

“We’ve had tons of people skate that have never skated for years, and years, and years, so it’s been cool,” Schwean said. “A lot of people have enjoyed getting out and getting some exercise. The weather has been fantastic so that’s been great.”
