Manitoba Implementing Quarantine Requirement For Anyone Coming Into the Province, Takes Effect Friday

Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister announced that anyone travelling into Manitoba, from anywhere in Canada, will be required to quarantine for 2 weeks.

This will take effect Friday, meaning Manitobans currently out-of-province have until 11:59 p.m. Thursday to return to the province and not have to self-isolate. If they arrive after that time, they must self-isolate for 14 days.

However, Pallister says there will be exceptions for people who live close to the Saskatchewan or Ontario boundaries and need to travel for essential purposes, such as grocery shopping.

“This order is not designed to stop people who are 17 miles away from Yorkton and used to shopping there from shopping there,” Pallister said.

Pallister cited concerns of COVID-19 and its new variants as reasons for the amended public health orders.

“We all need to do our part to keep each other safe, we need to limit the contacts we have and we need to maximized the safety that we all desire,” Pallister stated.
