SaskPower is helping out southern U.S. states impacted by the recent cold snap there.

Spokesperson Joel Cherry says 175 Megawatts of power is being exported to the Southwest Power Pool, an organization that coordinates the flow of electricity in 14 states.

SaskPower initially exported 150 Megawatts down south on Sunday morning, but Cherry says they increased it because the provincial grid can balance the demand here while helping our neighbours to the south.
