Saskatchewan’s Health Minister days anyone in Phase One of the provincial government’s COVID-19 vaccine plan will be contacted by phone.
Along with frontline healthcare workers, those in personal care and long-term care homes and their staff, Paul Merriman says residents seventy and over are included, and fifty and over in the north.
The contact list is being created from Health Card information, Vital Statistics data and other eHealth client information systems.
People are being contacted by phone based on their age, until all available appointments are filled.
Merriman adds that there will be a priority sequence beginning with those in the eighty and over age age group .
Right now the setback is not enough vaccines, but the Health Minister says as they become available, local clinics will be able to administer the shots and public health officials will be communicating those details directly.
Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Saqib Shahab, adds that as the province moves into Phase Two, we should all listen for announcements on when and where we can be immunized, beginning with those seventy and over and continuing through in ten year increments.
